Hi,

I've been playing withsubgrids and have been unable to get something to work. It might be that jqGrid does not support this in which case I mayl raise it in the 'feature request' forum.

Suppose the data I use to populate my grid (say we use invoices like the examples in the docs) already includes child elements (for example line items for those invoices). Is it possible to configure the grid to use those child elements from the orginal data set? I though this might be posible using the suybgrid settings of the xmlReader but so far I have only been able to get it to work using a separate subgrid URL and that obviously hits the server for every subgrid.

Thanks,

Phil

Hello,

Did you mean that oncle loaded the child's should be not loaded again.

Something like the TreeGrid component.?

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony,

If I were to pass something like this to the grid:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

<invoices>

  <invoice>

    <id>1</id>

    <amount>10</amount>

    <lineitem>1 jar of coffee @ 6</lineitem>

    <lineitem>1 litre of milk @ 4</lineitem>

  </invoice>

</invoices>

I'd like to be able to use this data to populate both the grid and the subgrid such that when I expand the subgrid no calls are made to the server.

I've been trying to do this unsuccessfully so I'm assuming the grid does not support this but it could be me doing it wrong.

Thanks,

Phil
