select php mysql special charecters

Hi , im having a problem with a edit form with a select that fetches data from my sql, the problem is the special charecters are showning ?...if a run the php file to fetch the data it appears a select with the correct data, if instead data url:getdata.php, putting value{1:"çí"}, the data appears correct..
What seem to be the problem?
