Search toolbar: How to search formatted values instead of actual values?

I have a column in the grid that shows numers which are actually user IDs. I added a formatter to that column so that the IDs are converted to names.

The problem comes when I type text in the column's search box. Since the search is performed on the actual values (the IDs), it doesn't work as the end userÂ expect.

Is there any option or parameter that I can set that makes the search to be done on the formatted values?

Hello,

Where is the search performed? - I mean you have your own server side code for searching or you load the data locally and then make the search using the jqGrid loacal data.

The search is made locally by JqGrid itself. No server involved.
