Hi

I have a question about the licencing of jqGrid.  Your website states that it is available under an MIT licence or GPL.  As I am developing a commercial product I need to use the MIT licence.  However I noticed that one of the plugins that jqGrid uses is called jsonXML and inside that source file it clearly states that the code is licenced under the Creative Commons GNU LGPL License.

I am concerned that the jsonXML licencing terms seem to conflict with the MIT licence.

Can somebody explain this please because at the moment I am unsure whether I will be able to continue using jqGrid.

Thanks.

Hello,

If you do not use the xml import/export functions ( jsonXML) you can omitt this module when you download the grid and use only MIT modules

In the download page you can chosse which modules to be included – i.e unselect JSON/Xml utils

Regards

Tony

Hi,

I tried the above suggestion, but the dopwnloaded package still contains the jsonXMl bits. In addition, the minified code contains the LGPL code from jsonXML.js. Do you have any more suggestions?

Cheers

Hello,

It is not possible to remove the calls to these functions in the minified file.

In this case consider the name  (the jsonXML) just as name which can have different implementations.

In this case you should consider the case that city Sofia is available in Bulgaria and in the US too, booth have the same name, but they are diffrent things.

I hope you understand what I mean.
