I have a dataset that is too wide for the screen. I can get the horizontal scroll bars if I manually resize the columns after page has loaded. But if I set the column widths in my grid definition All it does adjust the widths of all the columns to match the width of the grid. How do I force the width of the columns to be wider than the grid in my grid definition so I can get a horizontal scroll bar?

Thank you that's exactly what I was after. I haven't been using jquery or jqgrid for very long. But between the 2 it's saved me so much time and headache over doing all the javascript myself. Soon as I'm done with the project I'm working on I've got a few ideas for plugins that people might be interested in.

A related question is if it is possible to "lock" the leftmost column and scroll the rest of the columns (horizontally)?

And another related question: is it possible to set the horizontal scroll bars to display both at the top and the bottom of the grid?
