Hello,
The easiest solution, if you are using IE, is to put
{
text-overflow: ellipsis;
}
in your css file.
Otherwise there are a number of jQuery plugins (jTruncate, etc.) that will do this for you. The problem with these plugins is that you have to specify each element you want it applied to.

thanks but text-overflow: ellipsis is not supported in firefox
maybe integrate jTruncate as a formatter so using it would be easy
i also wish to use multiple formatters for a column
something like ... formatters:{{name, options: {}}[,{name, options:{}}] ... [,{name, options:{}}]}
in colModel
