I have created a user CRUD with jQueryGrid i give my admins the ability to make an account expire at a certain date but the account may never expire so the expiration date is a non required field. I set the datefmt option of the column model and the date:true option in the editrules settings but the thing is that the form won't allow the user to send the data until a valid date is in the field, since the field is not required that means that the user is unable to send a valid record so I had to change to server side validation.

It would be nice if you implemented this validation is such a way that the grid enforced a valid date to be in the field but only if the field is required otherwise the field may be left blank. Off course if the user types anything in the field the contents are verified even if the field is not required.

I don't know if I made myself clear enough but anyway I would like to know what you think about this and if it may be implemented in an upcomming version of the grid.

Cheers

Sergio
