Has anyone had any experience dynamically sizing columns based on the data?

Our current grid (based on java) does this.

My options seem to be:

1) Calculate / Estimate the column sizes on the server while retrieving the data (not ideal).

2) Try and add something on the client to do adjust column sizes after the data is loaded.

3) Allow our users to save their column sizes and try and pass it off as an enhancement (hehe).

Any help or suggestions would be great, thanks!

Hello,

You can just play with import and export modules. This will do exactley what you want.

The import/export modules will work for option 3, but I think SteveT would prefer the grid to auto-size the columns, much like a regular table would. I would also love to see a way to accomplish this, or at least a way to automate it for my users.

Hello,

This is discussed many times here. Let me say - currently This will be hard to do because of the definition of the grid - table-layout:fixed. This definition allow us to have one of the fastest grid, but this limit us to do other things.

I think you understand my point

Best Regards

Tony
