Search on select column

I have a server populated grid with local searching and sorting (using loadonce), and a column with a edittype: "select" like this in colModel:

{

name: "client", editable: true, edittype: "select", formatter: "select",

editoptions: {value: {1: "Client 1", 2: "Client 2", 3: "Client 3", 4: "Client 4"}}

}

the problem I have now is that, if I search on this column as a text (not using stype: "select") it will search on the id's in grid data, rather the texts.
