jqGrid and jQuery 1.4 (1.4a1 and 1.4a2)

Just to let you know, I did some testing with jQuery 1.4.

I did a test with jqGrid 3.6.2 and jQuery 1.4a1 and a2.

With 1.4a1 it looks like everything is working for me (treegrid, custom formatters, custom buttons), but with 1.4a2 my custom button doesn't show up.

Apparently there is a problem of "too much recursion" in 1.4a2, that's a known issue and bug for the jQuery Team.

So this seems like good news for jqGrid.

Yep. I saw this error.

Did you notice any performance improvement attributable to jQuery 1.4a1?

Hello,

Thanks for these investigations. I too have problem with 1.4a2 with to many recursion. I'm trying to investigate the problem in order to post the issue to jQuery team.

Best Regards

Tony

@ Les: with firefox and jquery everything is already pretty fast. so difficult to say. it sure ain't slower !

I didn't do testing with a large grid or in IE6-7.

Stefan, you can use getGridParam('totaltime') to measure perf improvement.  I see some improvement, but not that much.

Hello,

On this direction you should not expect big improvement, since the jqGrid rendering engine does not use any jQuery command when the data is loaded. Also the speed should be when the grid and any other grid related elements are created.

Best Regards
