Is there any ways to do not load grid on page load?

I defined a grid in a page as follows:
jQuery('#grid').jqGrid({
    url: 'abc.php',
    ...
        caption: "Group Search",
    ...
    });

when this page load the first time then it will send this request to server immediately.
I only want to send this request to server when I press a button.
I already tried to use "hiddengrid:true" then it is ok.
But the grid was hidden. I'd like to show grid when the data is ready in the grid.
How can I do it?
Please help me.

The grid will automatically load only if you are NOT putting the above code within a function.

The simplest way to accomplish what you want is to create a function, for example...

function loadMyGrid()

{

Place your above code here

}

Then call this function from the onclick of your button.
