This appears to have happened before, I've found posts here and here.  Just letting you know that I've been able to reproduce this behavior in IE8 with the current version of jqGrid (4.0.0).  Details I've found so far:

  1. The behavior is not reproducible in compatability mode in IE8.
  2. The behavior is not reproducible in the latest FireFox.
  3. The behavior is as described in the linked posts, in that the SubGrid loads but then disappears from view as soon as the cursor leaves the table cell that holds the "+"/"-" for expanding/collapsing the SubGrid.
  4. The behavior appears to be a result of setting the parent grid's height to "100%".  Setting an explicit height (such as 500) fixes the problem.  (But then, the grid is of an explicit height rather than an automatic height.)
  5. Not specifying a height value functions the same as the explicit height value.  (Makes sense, there'd just be a default explicit height.)

While I'm here, does anybody have a possible workaround for this?  My target browser for this project is only IE8 (client's decision) and this grid is going to vary significantly in height.

Bump as I'm experiencing the exact same issue and have the exact same client requirements.

Hello,

When using IE we need to know all including html definitions, DOCTYPE declarations and so on.

With othet word we need a working test case - please.

Regards

For professional UI suites for Java Script and PHP visit us at our commercial products site - guriddo.net - by the very same guys that created jqGrid.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for responding.  This is the HTML header, it's very basic:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

<head>

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd" />

...CSS and jQuery scripting immediately follow.

If it helps, this seemingly worked in IE7 but not IE8.
