I see many places in jqGrid where query by ID is provided a context.  This in most cases (if not all) is a bad programming practice.

jQuery allows to optionally specify a context for the query and this typically results in better performance.  However, in one case when the query is by ID performance is significantly decreased when context is provided.

I suggest removing the optional context wherever query is by ID.
