I have seen the other topics on this and they say to make sure you're subgrid row ID's are not the same as the main grids. My IDs are not the same and I still get this problem, the first screen shot shows my main and subgrid ID's in the DOM layout.

the second image shows that when I click on a column highlighted in BLUE, the MAIN jqgrid is NOT selected; however if I select a column in RED, the coresponding row is selected in the MAIN grid depicted in the image.

This may have something to do with inline editing; both my subgrid and main grid allow it; I notice I don't get this problem when "selectOnExpand" is set to 'true.' However if "selectOnExpand" is set to 'true' then it is never unselected when selecting another row in the main grid, the expanded row (even if collapsed again) remains selected along with a new row that is selected.

EDIT: When 'cellEdit' is set to false in the main grid, this issue goes away; so looks like there is a bug with celledit and subgrids.
