I'm not sure if this is a bug or not … but I've just upgraded to jqGrid 3.2 (from 3.1) and am now having problems with width of the grid. If I explicitly set “shrinkToFit: false” and “width: 800″ - the width still remains the total of all the column widths. As my grid contains 20 columns - the width is set as 3112 pixels - much too wide!
Suggestions?

Unfortunately I cannot provide a link and I haven't posted the app to a production server. However, I tried a little more experimentation ...
If I don't explicitly set the "colModel" value with a width attribute (which defaults to 150 pixels):
{name: 'scientific_name', index: 'scientific_name', sortable: true}
... then the grid width is ignored when I set:
width: 800
However, if I set the "colModel" width attribute to any value, including 150:
{name: 'scientific_name', index: 'scientific_name', width: 150, sortable: true}... then the grid is sized correctly.
