Did you try with sample program?

here is what I am applying with no records of the table.

tableToGrid(".rptTable", {gridview: true, height:'100%',pager:'#pager', rowNum:-1, viewrecords:true, emptyrecords: 'no records', viewsortcols: [true,'horizontal',true]});

I also tried with json data with following syntex:

var mygrid = jQuery("#jqGrid").jqGrid({
datatype: "json",

viewrecords: true,

pager: '#pager'

});

Yup, I have the same problem , any manual method to check this?

edit: I did the fix manually I used an old method I found in the web.
