Hello Tony!

After the rows of the grid will be grouping the information about the grouping item will be deleted (see lines 169-171 of grid.grouping.js):

grp.sortitems[0] = [];
grp.sortnames[0] = [];
grp.summaryval[0] = [];

I wanted to collapse not all rows in the jqGrid but a selected one. For example I would like on the example http://www.ok-soft-gmbh.com/jqGrid/DisplayLog.htm collapse information about 'Vars'. Th row (<tr>) has id="gridghead_3" which combined from the gridId ("grid") the text "ghead_" and the number of 'Vars' inside of sortitems. So I need to have grid.jqGrid ('getGridParam', 'groupingView').sortitems[0] array and find the index of 'Vars' inside.

After commenting of the lines 169-171 of grid.grouping.js I could successfully use construct row id ("gridghead_3") and use grid.jqGrid ('groupingToggle', rowId); to collapse the group inside loadComplete function (currently because of the problem described in /blog/?page_id=393/bugs/loadcomplete-not-work-with-datatype-xmlstring-or-jsonstring/ it works only inside of gridComplete).

By the way it seems to me that the function which collapse some group will be useful for other users.

Best regards
Oleg

Is it me or has this bug been intruduced again in the latest versions of the grid? (4.4.x)

I use the following code to expand the row I want:

                    $.each($(this).jqGrid('getGridParam', 'groupingView').sortitems[0], function(index, value) {
                        if(value == currentUser) {
                            $(element).jqGrid('groupingToggle', $(element).attr('id')+'ghead_'+index);
                        }
                    });

This used to work for me, but as of jqgrid 4.4.0 the sortitems is an empty array
