HTML escape entites undecoded during cell edit

I would just like to ask if it is intended that inputting the following HTML entities: &lt;, &gt;, and &amp;, should be decoded when re-editing the same cell? Even with autoencode set to true, &lt; always becomes <, &gt; > ,etc.

You can replicate the behaviour on the demo page > Row Editing > Input types then edit the first row to something like "Desktop Computer &amp;lt;". Notice that after edit, the text on the cell becomes "Desktop Computer &lt;". Editing it again without modifications make it become "Desktop Computer <".

I'm sorry but maybe I'm missing something from the documentations here...
