The width of my grid is 848px. The sum of the column widths is only 570px. When I set ShrinkToFit and rownumbers to True with a width of 30px there is a horizontal scrollbar on the grid but it only scrolls for about 3 px. When I turn rownumbers off, there is no horizontal scrollbar. It doesn't look like Shrinktofit is taking the rownumbers column into account properly. The properties are set as follows:

jQuery("#searchResultsTable").jqGrid({
        scroll: 0,
        url: 'searchresults.aspx?query=yes&search=' + search,
        datatype: "xml",
        height: 'auto',
        width: 848,
        colNames: ['Transformer ID', 'Max KWH', 'Start Date', 'End Date', 'Load Rating', 'Percent Loaded'],
        colModel: [{ name: 'TransformerId', index: 'TransformerId', width:90 }, { name: 'KWH', index: 'KWH', width: 70 }, { name: 'Start', index: 'Start', width: 120 }, { name: 'End', index: 'End', width: 120 }, { name: 'Rating', index: 'Rating', width: 80 }, { name: 'Percent', index: 'Percent', width: 90,formatter:'number'}],
        rowNum: 10,
        mtype: "GET",
        rownumbers: true,
        rownumWidth: 30,
        shrinkToFit: true,
        gridview: false,
        pager: '#searchResultsTablePager',
        sortname: 'TransformerId',
        viewrecords: true,
        sortorder: "asc",
        caption: "Transformer Loading Information Overview"
        }
    });

Just wanted to point that out. I'm not sure if I'm doing something stupid or not.

Found the issue while trying to fix something else that I thought was a bug. Apparently JQGrid does not appreciate having the css "border-collapse: collapse" on tables. If you're having weird display issues make sure that your table is set to "border-collapse:seprate"
