Clientside sorting and rowNum=-1 do not work together

Hi,

if one sets the parameter rowNum to -1 in order to display all rows, the clientside sorting is not working correctly anymore.

Initially all rows are displayed. If a column is sorted, the last element of the new order is not displayed, therefore the last line disappears.

If one sets the parameter rowNum to -2 (-3, -4), the last two (three, four) rows are not displayed after sorting the table.

Best regards.

Hi Lo!

Why you use negative value for rowNum? If you want that all rows will be displayed at one you should use a large positive number instead. It mus be not the maximum positive value. The value 10000 or 100000 is more as enough.

Nevertheless I agree, that the reaction of jqGid on the negative numbers which you described is curios, but jqGrid not make verification of the input properties.

Best regards
Oleg

Hi Oleg,

Thank you for your response. I used -1 because it was stated in the documentation that one should use -1 to display all rows. However, now this phrase is crossed out: /jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:options. I wonder if this setting was deleted without replacement?

Setting the value to such a ridiculous high number is exactly the work around that I used.

Best regards

lo

Hello,

Yes, there is replacment.

Please look at rowTotal parameter in grid options:

/jqgridwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:options&s[]=prmnames

Kind Regards

Tony

I have the same problem and rowTotal doesn't seem to have anything to do with the mentioned problem. I tried to set it to -1 or 10000 but nothing happened, I just saw the additional parameter in the ajax call that recovers my grid data.

If we can't use rowNum: -1 anymore what should we do to remove the paging without having the sorting problem that hides the last row on sorting?

Hello,

It all depends what you do server side. Please chack if you accept the rowTotal parameter and do the needed changes.

Regards

Tony
