I'm building a plugin of jqgrid for Ruby on Rails, and i need one functionality comes back to jqgrid
In previous version of jqgrid (3.6) was possible use the character dot (.) in colmodels
Example: colModel:[ {name:'address.street',index:'address.street', width:75}]
In version 3.8 of jqgrid the code above list the information, but when i use the filtertoolbar it's raise an error in firebug and stop the search in datagrid
It's works in 3.6 but not now in 3.8
I need the dot between attributes to connect with models of rails. Today exists plugins for rails 2 for version 3.6 of jqgrid. But not exists any plugin for rails 3 and much less for jqgrid 3.8
Can you come back this propriety? i will build the best plugin for rails and provide this on github.
Thx very much

Hello,
Thank you very much for posting this, but the information provided is not enought.
When posting bugs you should:
1. Description of the problem
2. jqGrid and jQuery versions
3. entrie jqGrid Configuration
4. Data sample
5. In wich browser is this.
6. Do we have other plugins and etc
You meet the first and second one
If you do your way nobody will response or help
The best way is to send a link to the problem, including non minified version of jqGrid
Regards
Tony

Hello denoww,
I supose that you use loadonce:true jqGrid option and have the same problem as descrobed here. As the workaround I recommend you to use
(in case of usage of datatype:"json").
You can continue to have problem with the names of the sortname where you should continue to use the dotted name convesrion. It is also important to know whether you use data editing and which one.
Moreover you should verify that the problem come from jqGrid and not from the new version of jQuery which you probably also use.
I am agree with Tony: too many questions is unclear for me. You should always include full JavaScript and HTML code of the example which could be used to reproduce the described problem. Instead of posting some server code it is almost always enough to post only JSON or XML data which server return back to jqGrid. One could save the data in the text files and test all without the server. With respect of Fiddler of Firebug you can easy capture the data. Sometime could be important to post the information from the HTTP header of the server response. The line with Content-Type is the most important.
Best regards
Oleg
